Overview
Aethel is a private wellness club in London. The brief: create a space that feels like home, supports high performance, and justifies premium membership through experience not exclusivity.
We designed the architecture, brand identity, digital platform, and physical touchpoints as a single system using AI-assisted visualization to accelerate concept development and spatial storytelling.
We designed the architecture, brand identity, digital platform, and physical touchpoints as a single system.
The Problem
Most luxury gyms lean masculine dark, enclosed, monochrome. They prioritize intensity over recovery. The spaces feel transactional.
Aethel needed to be different: balanced between strength and softness, designed to feel alive rather than controlled.
The Approach
Most luxury gyms feel like vaults. Aethel feels like daylight.
From there, every decision followed: let the outside in, and give each ritual its own room.
Brand & Touchpoints
Minimal, understated. Debossed stationery. Apparel with subtle identity cues. Logos present but never loud.
The brand doesn't announce itself. It waits to be noticed.
The Yoga Studio
Textured clay walls, naturally aged timber, no polish. Lighting so soft it barely registers. The space was designed to feel made, not manufactured.
Wabi-sabi principles guided the finishes. Imperfection as intention.
Architecture
Cardio faces out — floor-to-ceiling glass framing the London skyline. Weights occupy the core. Recovery spaces retreat inward, each with its own atmosphere.
The rooftop houses the lap pool, visible through glass but acoustically separated. Sauna, steam room, and wave pool each occupy dedicated chambers.
Materials: Polished concrete and stone anchor the heavier spaces. Natural timber and textured clay soften the yoga studio. Greenery throughout — not decoration, but architecture.
Lighting shifts by zone: Cardio is bright. Weights are focused. Recovery is warm. Yoga is soft. At night, the club dims into ambient glow.
Digital Product
The app mirrors the space: calm, simple, fast. Members book classes, reserve amenities, check peak hours. No gamification, no noise just utility that disappears.
